Sehru

C'sehru Tia of the Desert Pools

Basics

Name: C’sehru Tia
Nickname: Sehru
Age: Late Thirties
Gender: Male
Race: Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te
Height: 5 fulm 2 ilm
Weight: 115 ponze
Relationship: Happily Bonded
Birthplace: Forgotten Springs
Primary Residence: Mist
Occupation: Sehruleum Magnate
Formerly: Goldsmith / Miner / Gladiator

Sehru is relatively diminutive in stature, but not excessively so by Miqo'te standards, his youthful visage often timid yet inquisitive, his slotted golden eyes perhaps conveying an air of passion that one is likely not to fully appreciate unless they take the time to break through his trepidatious shell. He sports a slender build with some level of musculature that stands testament to his time spent breaking rocks under the hot Sagolii sun and his later training as a gladiator. In spite of the inherent hazards of these occupations it is his devotion to his work as a goldsmith that reflects best on his tanned features, that same attention to detail imbued in his precious gems being employed in the maintenance of his silken skin and golden blonde mane. The fruits of his efforts as a lapidary routinely adorn his feline form from the tips of his furred ears all the way down to his most typically sandaled feet and his lionlike tufted tail. In between one would usually find Sehru donning light and airy fineries with the occasional armor as justified by his duties, but rarely anything that would likely lead to his sun-kissed skin breaking a sweat.

Story

Thirty-some summers past a tia was born to the Viper tribe on the outskirts of the Sagolii, a rare male among a litter of several females as is typical of his race; he was given the name Kho. With his sisters tasked with the hunting and the tribe’s nunh uninterested in fostering future competition the youth found himself routinely idle and left to his own devices, a state of leisure that led to frequent solitude and wandering afield, nurtured an inquisitive yet socially inept demeanor. It was on these frequent outings across the rolling sun-baked sands of the southern desert that the tia developed his characteristic golden colors and first found companionship, drive to do more, to do anything with his future. As isolated as his clan strove to be it was nigh impossible to keep the unattended Seeker from meeting and mingling with hunters and traders, beastmen and fauna alike, and without the stimulation he sought at home it wasn’t long before he came to associate more closely with newfound companions of distant tribes more so than his own. Day after day, night after night were spent afield far from home until at last it no longer was home, and with one hurtful and final goodbye he left the Vipers behind entirely, an episode that is still painful for the tia to discuss even in the present.Friends he had made among the Amalj’aa were the first to take in the wayward Seeker, six or seven moons spent among their ranks even if it seems but a blur in hindsight. It was with them that Kho first took up a pickaxe, with them that he became Kho no more, and after being properly adopted by the contingent of beastmen as he was in a manner of speaking the moniker that he yet carries to this day was bestowed unto him – Sehru. In order to maintain a measure of conformance with the ways of his own people he continued to use the title “tia” in conversation with fellow Miqo’te, even took on the Coeurl tribe as his own without so much as knowing even a single member of the clan.Sehru was by then enjoying the warm sun of his twentieth summer, and basking in its skin-bronzing rays as he was so apt to do he would set out daily in search of shiny gems, precious metals among the barren stone of southern Thanalan. This fascination was one that had developed in his early years upon timidly observing traders from the city, even his own nunh donning silver and gold, amethyst and peridot, and with that selfsame twinkle that his slotted heliodor eyes exhibited in his youth the pair sought out treasures new sleeping in the desert sand in hope of decorating his own sun-kissed skin, fur-tipped ears. With an Amalj'aa trained battle drake at his side the Seeker set out on one of his many forays into the quarries of his own making one morning, admittedly very late in the morning, but instead of the typical obsidian and mythril with which he had become so tragically over-acquainted those golden pools of his shimmered with excitement upon unearthing a substantial like-colored stone. Even in spite of his shy nature he rushed with all haste down to the market at nearby Forgotten Springs in hope of connecting with an interested buyer only to gasp in astonishment at realizing the worth of his find, to be offered a life-changing sum for all of his work. It was on this day that he first ventured off to that jewel in the desert he had until then only seen from afar, that he first passed through the gates of Ul’dah.Never had Sehru been through so overwhelming an experience in all of his days up until that point, all at once becoming introduced to the arts of the sword and shield, of the means to turn his find, perhaps future finds into treasures worth so very much more. Clothed in new garb, equipped with implements of his journeyman trades he returned to the Sagolii to continue in his mining, to share with his comrades among the shifting sands all he had found, all the more he suddenly had to work toward. It wasn’t long before fellow tias of other tribes he had come across in journeys past suddenly took an even greater interest in him, perhaps even found inspiration in the wayward Seeker to chase their own dreams be it at his side or on their own.Over the ensuing year or two Sehru honed his talents as a miner, a gladiator, a goldsmith alike until he attained enough wealth to procure for himself a residence in the Goblet, one in which he and multiple other tias he had gotten ever closer to settled in as if to form a tribe all of their own. The Coeurls as they were flourished even as their founder of sorts never gave up on his drive and ambition, often to the detriment of those who joined him on his journey. Friends and partners alike came and went but the by then more mature male well into his twenties kept his golden eyes set on his ever growing horde of riches, his longing to have all the trappings that he’d lacked in his youth, the freedom to do as he pleased, the chance to partake in new and exciting experiences as they came his way – though this zeal invariably led to the return of the selfsame solitude he had once strove escape. While in the present he’s become quite secure in a monetary sense to say the least Sehru yet retains that yearn to excel developed long ago, a drive that more often than not leads to more hassle than he'd planned; but through it all the tia has gained an anchor of sorts, one he’d never expected when he set foot in Limsa one fateful day now many moons past who ever makes it all so very worthwhile. A dusky-maned shapeshifter long ago took the place of a collection of fellow Seekers in the ever more gilded halls of his Mist residence and in this man Sehru has found companionship and so very much more. Together Salem and Sehru have expanded their holdings from a mere single spring of ceruleum in Thanalan to a multitude spanning continents, combining their powers into an empire they've christened S & S Sehruleum Syndicate. It’s not uncommon to find the two of them chatting side by side (or more likely lap cuddling), working together on any number of new projects in their capacities as zealous crafters and gatherers and levelers, expanding what has now become their empire beyond the confines of a mere single mansion a hundred times over. And no matter how far the Miqo’te may wander in pursuit of his ambitions he's never alone - his beloved is always by his side through it all. And indeed, the delightfully bad influence that Salem is often proves to be the driving force behind their seemingly infinite grind, not that the tia holds him in contempt for it. Not at all, if anything their shared ambition, their shared challenges and joy only bring the pair closer, somehow ever inspiring him to love his chosen mate ever more.

Notes

Please note that this carrd is intended to serve as a repository for my character's story and visual catalog of my various housing acquisitions and designs. If you're only looking for roleplay, a posing partner, or a Discord kitten it would be in your best interest to look elsewhere.

Sehru is a loyal husband and his player a dedicated collector and achievement chaser, and as such I have neither the desire nor time to seek out roleplay at present. The same can be said for myself in an out of character sense, focused on a blossoming career and maintaining a happy home life as I am and quite content with the companionship I have. Likewise I have neither the time nor energy to spare for any who would seek to initiate or rekindle drama or other sophomoric shenanigans - all attempts at such contact will be met with complete silence and a one-way ticket to my own personal illicit shadow realm. On a more positive note, I've been actively playing since 1.0 alpha testing and am about as dedicated a fan of the game as they come, 'gramp stamp' and all. Going even further back I'm a long time alumnus of XIV's spiritual predecessor FFXI as well - with several relics completed. Almost always is this less literal relic looking to check off achievements and other collectibles, so please don't be shy to reach out should your own goals seem to align with mine and we could perhaps share in a productive adventure or two.

An unpopular opinion within the achievement hunting and collecting community: Only 'All' totals as they appear in game and on the Lodestone and their corresponding rankings matter, regardless of made-up scores some newer players may create self-serving algorithms to calculate and then peddle as 'Standard' or 'Ranked' in a misguided even if crowd-pleasing attempt to diminish the long-term accomplishments of those who have supported the game since its inception (and when that support was needed the most) and to compensate for their own feelings of having missed out. Any avid collector who truly aims to 'collect everything' will always prioritize goals that are time-limited, rare, and, yes, exclusive; not skip over them because they will someday be 'not possible for all players to obtain.'

Even more unpopular opinions likely to result in a loss of interest from a vastly larger portion of the FFXIV community:1. Self-assessed and advertised stupidity in its various forms (read head empty, brain cells, 'himbo,' etc.) is neither attractive nor cute. It's a lazy cop-out crutch commonly associated with pity parties and victim complexes.2. If your character is a cis gender man with tissue growth on his chest the size of a C cup or larger you might want to have a chirurgeon check it out. (Or stop being a mod beast, see item 5.)3. Boring overused streetwear glamour in Final Fantasy? Just another far too common 'Legend' title? Clever lunar or equine reference in search info? Or maybe an edgy Latin phrase composed of the only two words of the dead language the player even remotely understands? Eyerolling hard.4. No.2 Type B Boots are the single most unappealing piece of gear ever added to the game. High heels are the modern day equivalent of foot binding, and it hardly helps that they're literally filthy regardless of dye.5. Mare Synchronos was a mistake. With the exception of reasonably infilling gaps intentionally left by the developers for rating purposes your character probably looks better without the fabled moon dust.

Housing

Housing is a guilty pleasure of mine, be it in Etheirys or realms more terrestrial. Given that the poor soul behind the Tia has only the means for a single home at a time and that Sehru himself has just a little more gil than he knows what to do with there are inevitably more homes to be had in the former realm than the latter. Some may call it 'slum-lording,' others may be prone to outbursts of jealous rage at the mere notion, but regardless of what others may think a ceaselessly calculating and collecting C'sehru has amassed a fairly sizeable porfolio of residences near and far. And wherever you are, as well. Except for those newer acquisitions that remain under construction all of his residences are open to guests. Addresses have been included, so feel free to drop in for a gander.
